Perserving Our Local Stories

In April 2008, Beet Street hosted National Public Radio’s StoryCorps project in conjunction with our week-long series on Social Media.

While not strictly “social media,” the oral histories of everyday Americans help us to reflect on the new ways that people tell their stories via a wide variety of media; and, helps us to recognize the value of generational storytelling.

Since its inception in 2003, StoryCorps has facilitated over 15,000 interviews and is one of the largest oral history projects of its kind.
