GRANT MARQUIT

Musical Director & Producer

Performance: Symphony of 1000 Drums

Grant Marquit has been producing large-scale social media projects, conferences and events at the intersection of art, activism, sustainability and economic development for nearly 15 years. He produced and co-conducted the premier of Halim El-Dabh’s Symphony for 1000 Drums for the opening ceremony of Cleveland’s Ingenuity Festival of Art + Technology in 2006, and he was technical producer of the festival in 2007.


As a musician and producer, he has collaborated with percussionists Marcus Santos, Cyro Baptista, Scott Kettner, Jamey Haddad, Raquy Danziger, Jim Donovan, Sogbety Diomande and Papa Assane M’Baye. He is a former instructor of piano at Ohio State University’s School of Music, and occupies a space in the Cleveland Heights Singers Hall of Fame as senior accompanist, musical director and section leader. In 1991, Marquit spent six months as a street musician in Europe. He is a “corporate drumming” facilitator as well as regular instructor of the yogic vocal practice of kirtan. He holds a liberal arts degree from the Ohio State University and received a license to practice massage therapy from the Medical Board of the State of Ohio in 2001.

Marquit also co-founded the non-profit organization Entrepreneurs for Sustainability, which helps business leaders implement strategies that benefit people, the planet and prosperity. He also serves on the board of Hostelling International’s Northeast Ohio Council. He lives with his wife and three young children in Cleveland.
